Our Branch
Our Branch
Banpu Japan Co., Ltd. (BJP) is involved with the Smart City AiCT initiative to transform Aizuwakamatsu City into a model Smart City. It participates through its subsidiary, Aizu Renewable Energy Services (ARS) , which is a member of the AiCT Consortium. This consortium is a partnership between the Aizuwakamatsu City Government, various corporations, and the University of Aizu , with the primary goals of advancing the city’s digital transformation and promoting innovation and sustainable energy.
BJP has achieved concrete results through several projects, such as implementing a precise renewable energy forecasting system supporting the integration of regional energy data into the city’s Urban Operating System (都市 OS) and participating in key pilot projects, such as an off-grid solar carport and a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in collaboration with the University of Aizu.
A future goal is the plan to build a 26 MW grid-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Fukushima. This aligns with its expected role of supporting the city’s shift to self-sustaining, distributed energy models using battery storage and smart grid technologies to improve resilience. Furthermore, Banpu will continue to contribute to the city’s carbon neutrality and RE100 goals by participating in other clean energy demonstration projects.
